Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is known for his moves in the ring and his acting on the screen. The Hollywood star has starred in many critically acclaimed and fan-favorite movies and series. One such movie which is loved by fans is Red Notice. The chemistry between him and his co-star Ryan Reynolds was something that fans enjoyed a lot. Since then the co-stars have been friends.

However, the two are not in a pleasant situation right now. With Reynolds’ upcoming movie “Deadpool 3” facing a major obstacle, Johnson could land in the soup too.

Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds will be absent for sometime

The Rock’s former co-star and friend Ryan Reynolds is known by his fans for playing the character of Deadpool. The wise-cracking, merc with a mouth’s third instalment was supposed to hit the theaters in May of 2024. However, the studio behind the movie, its producers and director have stated that the movie’s release date has been postponed and the release date as for now is uncertain. The decision to postpone the movie was made due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Similarly, Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming project, Red One was something fans were anticipating for a very long time. The movie is his first Christmas movie ever. Actors such as Chris Evans, J.K Simmons, Lucy Liu, and many more will be seen along with him. The movie was a joint venture between Seven Bucks Production, Amazon Prime Original FIlms, and Amazon MGM Studios.

Even though the filming is complete, there are no updates on the post-production procedure. Will the SAG-AFTRA strike affect the holiday season?

Excluding Red One, Johnson was seen in only one other movie, Fast X, recently. A staple of the franchise, he had a cameo in the movie. If the strikes continue, it will be a major blow to Johnson and his production house as he has barely starred in any movies this year. A few months after the strikes started, he made his return to his old stomping ground, WWE.  Similarly, John Cena who is a part of Hollywood, also made a return to the promotion. Even though he had teased his departure from WWE once again, the rumors might not be true. 

The Hollywood strikes began on Friday, July 14th, 2023. SAG-AFTRA is a union that represents the entertainment industry, including actors, recording artists, radio personalities, and other media professionals. The strike started after weeks of failed negotiations between the labor union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which represents major motion picture studios including Paramount, Sony, Netflix, Walt Disney Studios, and Warner Bros. The SAG wants better pay for the people involved, along with improved working conditions and a contract that provides job immunity from artificial intelligence.

The Writers Guild of America which was also on strike alongside them, has ended their strike after 42 days but the SAG continues to strike even after 3 months. With these uncertain, ongoing strikes, do you think Dwayne Johnson will be able to release his first Christmas movie this year?
