Red One was supposed to be Dwayne Johnson‘s first Hollywood project coming out of the big Hollywood strike of 2023. However, considering the holiday-specific theme of the film, it couldn’t be released without severely jeopardizing the quality of the film. This led the film to be shifted to the 2024 holiday season instead.

Right after the date for Johnson’s film was finalized, the competition had already entered the market. Turns out, another movie studio is trying to capitalize on the scarcity of Christmas-themed films and is not going to let “The Rock” walk an easy path in 2024.

Dwayne Johnson should look out for a newly announced competitor

Fans who were excited to see Red One were disappointed to learn that their much-awaited Christmas surprise would have to wait for a whole year before it hits the theaters and Amazon Prime on November 15th, 2024. But Seven Bucks Production will come face-to-face with another classic story to be released around the same time on the same theme.

The competition in question is The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, which is a classic Christmas story that was first written as a novel by Barbara Robinson in 1971 for children. The book has great reviews and those who have experienced the story tend to enjoy it.

According to Deadline, Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company acquired the rights to the same and the movie will release in theaters in the holiday season of 2024. And to tackle ‘The Brahma Bull’s stardom directly, Robert De Niro will be starring in the movie.

But Johnson wouldn’t be the only top male star in the film. In fact, Chris Evans was cast opposite him in the upcoming film. According to Captain America himself, he left behind a good opportunity to work alongside Johnson.

Johnson’s Red One co-star was featured in an interview recently where he talked about his career in detail. While talking, he revealed that he received two opportunities last year. One was regarding a space-themed movie, and the other was Johnson’s Red One.

During the interview, Evans revealed that he chose the project that Johnson offered because a Christmas-themed movie doesn’t happen often and he wanted to grab the first opportunity he gets.
