During his prosperous Hollywood career, Dwayne Johnson has been part of multiple movie franchises that have raked in the moolah. Be it ‘The Mummy’ series or the ‘G.I. Joe’ or the ever-so-successful ‘Jumanji’ franchise.
DJ’s Midas touch helped each of these movies make big money at the box office. But one franchise in particular is so synonymous with Johnson that he just had to make a return as his character was so very crucial for the storyline. Dwayne Johnson first started his association with the Fast Saga in 2011 with the movie ‘Fast Five’. Johnson played the role of Luke Hobbs, an agent trying to get jail time for the members of ‘The Fast And Furious’ crew for their various crimes.
He went on to be part of three more successful movies from the franchise but bailed out from F9 citing tensions with his co-star Vin Diesel. Johnson had clearly made up his mind that he would never return to the franchise but yet fully supported the crew and the movie.
But despite all this public animosity, the fans’ prayers were heard and Dwayne Johnson was seen in the post-credits scene of Fast X. Thus clearly indicating that he will be reprising his role as Luke Hobbs in ‘Fast and Furious 11’
In an interview with ET, Vin Diesel explained how essential Dwayne Johnson is to the future of this franchise. Diesel said, “It was no easy task, because so much has been created in this universe. To tie up all these storylines, this character(Luke Hobbs) needed to come back into the mythology. We lead with love. We try to create an environment where people can do their best work.”
But why did Dwayne Johnson leave the franchise in the first place?

It all started with the now deleted infamous Instagram post in which Johnson referred to some members of the cast as ‘candya***s’. Later Vin Diesel put out a post which indicated that he knew exactly whom The Rock’s ire was directed towards, it was him.

Then later co-star Tyrese Gibson got in on the feud by blaming Johnson and his Seven Bucks Productions for the delay of F9. But Vin Diesel came to Johnson’s rescue by explaining to Gibson that it wasn’t any one person’s fault. Johnson also publicly announced that he wouldn’t return to the franchise.
Then Vin Diesel put out a post where he mentioned his kids and the late Paul Walker pleading for Johnson’s return. That enraged Johnson even more as he didn’t like Diesel’s approach.
