It’s official! Dwayne Johnson’s daughter Ava, WWE’s first fourth-generation superstar, will have her first singles match. But even before it could start, the 22-year-old has signaled an end. The development came just after WWE announced the schedule.
Ava will take on Ivy Nile, her arch-rival in NXT, WWE’s developmental brand. The match was long awaited by many, who wanted to see The Rock’s daughter’s wrestling prowess.

While Johnson’s daughter made her NXT debut in October 2022, it wasn’t until May of this year that her career received a push. It started with Ivy Nile feuding with Ava. The Pitbull of the Diamond Mine has since then been at loggerheads with the Anoa’i family member.
Nile’s stable- Diamond Mine- comprising herself and brothers Brutus and Julius Creed, has been a thorn at The Schism’s side. This stable houses Ava and her peers Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid, and Rip Fowler. They have been a part of a continuous feud for the last few months.
Adding fuel to it, Ava has called out Nile. In a clip shared by NXT, she can be heard telling the 31-year-old to face her at NXT Heatwave. The event is set for August 22 and will feature several title matches along this one.
“So, for once, why don’t you step out of the shadows? Why don’t you do something for yourself? And, why don’t you stop being a third wheel,” Ava said in her barb, while making the challenge. Nile accepted it and wrote: “Message received. See you at heatwave, psychos #NXTHeatwave.”

But that’s not all. Soon after it was made official, The Rock’s daughter vowed to end Nile’s stable. She tweeted: “rip diamond mine 2021-2023.”
Meanwhile, Ava would want to put up an improved show on her big night. She would also want to prove her detractors wrong in the process because they don’t seemingly see signs of promise in her.
Fans not convinced by Ava’s wrestling skills
Imagine yourself to be a wrestling legend’s child trying to fill your father’s big shoes. Hard, right? Now replace that wrestling legend with the ‘most electrifying pro wrestler in the world’. Those are big shoes to fill and might take years. But wrestling fans have grown impatient lately.
While Dwayne Johnson didn’t get the crowd excited right from the start of his pro wrestling career, he was able to win their love with a change in gimmick and name. As Rocky Maivia changed to The Rock, so did his persona and in-ring skills. Add to it the innate ability to entertain people with the mic!

Ava, much like her legendary father, has had a slow start. But fans have been critical of her wrestling skills. Truth be told, she also doesn’t possess the kind of quality The Great One has with promos. This has made many call her out.
But unwavering in her journey, Ava has shot back at her haters and is set for her debut singles bout. This will, no doubt, be a big night for her. A good performance can do her career a lot of good. In case it doesn’t live up to the expectations, one can expect the boos to get louder.
