For quite a few years now, Dwayne Johnson has teased running for president or starting a political career. However, he never fully committed to one. Why did The Rock not want to be president? What were the reasons behind it? Here’s all you need to know.

Johnson is among the best-known WWE stars in the world today. His popularity ensures his movies and business get a fanbase as soon as they launch. This also works in politics.

Dwayne Johnson explains why he never wanted to commit

While on the What Now? with Trevor Noah podcast, Johnson gave some insight into why he never ran for president. There have been several instances in the past where Johnson claimed to want to run for the presidential election but never did.

 

“As a pro wrestler, full-time, wrestling 230 dates a year, for years,” Johnson said, comparing his commitment as a pro wrestler to that of being a president. Furthermore, he explained that since he became a father, his role towards his family has increased. Furthermore, this is not a role he wants at the moment.

Johnson said, “I know what it’s like to have that separation and not be there for the birthdays and not be there for the pickups, drop-offs, and everything else.” He explained how committing to one role would take away from the others he has as a father.

“I didn’t want that, and I don’t want that for my little ones now,” Johnson said. This explains why he never fully went in on the idea of running for president. Becoming a father changed Johnson as a person.

Would Johnson win if he ran for president?

During the 2021 political election, a poll was taken where 46% of US adults said they would support Johnson if he ran for president. To this, Johnson said, “I was really blown away, and I was really honored.”

It was in 2017 that Johnson floated the idea of running for president. However, as we enter 2024, the idea for him is off the table as he is now a father.
