Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is one of the biggest movie stars in the world, literally and figuratively. According to rumors, the Brahma Bull is being sought to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It looks like Kevin Feige would like Dwayne Johnson to play one of Marvel’s biggest and baddest villains: Apocalypse.
The Rock emerging as a frontrunner to play one of Marvel Comics’ biggest villains doesn’t emerge as a massive surprise. Rarely any other actor has a crowd-attracting power of the magnitude that Johnson has. However, it seems like Marvel is going all in, as they have roped in Donald Glover as well. But he has not joined in an acting capacity. Rather, the expectation for him is to execute a different kind of role.

Dwayne Johnson, who earlier reprised the role of Black Adam, saw major box office failure when the film tanked. The Brahma Bull emerged as the biggest culprit for its failure, as he assumed creative control of the film. And maybe that’s why Marvel has decided to bring another star, Donald Glover, into the mix. The actor could don the role of a writer for the film. This would prevent Johnson from trying to take control of this project as well.
Donald Glover is also someone Marvel is interested in, as a writer!

The character, Apocalypse etched his origins in X-Factor in 1986 as an ancient and inconceivably powerful mutant. Apocalypse was born millennia ago as En-Sabah-Nur as his celestial technology enhanced his mutant powers. Oscar Isaac previously played Apocalypse in the 2016 film X-Men: Apocalypse, which almost everyone can agree was disappointing. So it would be interesting to see how Glover and Johnson manage to recreate the character on the big screen and make it a success this time around.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the X-Men’s proper debut in the MCU. Moreover, getting a big star like Dwayne Johnson to play one of their biggest foes would be quite a coup. Strangely, it would also give Dwayne Johnson the chance to play quasi-ancient Egyptian super-beings in two different franchises. But Johnson would be hoping that everything goes according to plan, unlike WrestleMania XL where WWE had to change its initial plans.
WWE’s plans for Cody Rhodes, The Rock, and Roman Reigns in the months leading up to WrestleMania
The Rock’s return to WWE programming in early 2024 quickly positioned him as the primary threat to Roman Reigns heading into WrestleMania XL. This happened after Cody Rhodes initially “gave up” on facing the ‘Tribal Chief’ after winning the opportunity at the Royal Rumble. However, pressure from the public led WWE to reconsider and opt for Rhodes again for the event, even though they considered several alternative plans.

According to info provided by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, initially, the American Nightmare was always destined to defeat Roman Reigns. But in an event other than WrestleMania. The original idea was for The Brahma Bull to beat Roman at WrestleMania XL and then vacate the championship to return to Hollywood. Then, Reigns would regain the title and face the American Nightmare. However, this idea was not to everyone’s liking as fears grew that it could hurt Rhodes’ standing for years to come.
Fans had a strong preference for Cody Rhodes at the time, so any plan that didn’t include him as the winner against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL would have been widely rejected. Thankfully, WWE recognized this early on and delivered one of the most exciting and memorable pivotal events in WrestleMania history. Nevertheless, Johnson could potentially have the platform to propel a role conceived by another capable entity.
