During an interview with Screerant in 2019, Johnson disclosed Reeves was in talks about being part of the Fast and Furious spinoff movie. He and his team wanted him to play the role of the director of the techno-terrorist organization Eteon. He was supposed to be behind Eteon’s voice in the $7B franchise spin-off film.

But after talking to the $380 Million worth star, both of them mutually decided to not proceed with the idea. Plus, the director wanted a substantial role for Reeves and not just a stunt casting role. Johnson said, “And then what we also did at the end was we left the ominous voice faceless. So, for some time, I think you guys have heard the rumor that it was going to be a bit of a John Wick, all disguised.

“But then we left it there [with] a few people in mind. Originally, Keanu was the goal. We were talking, and it just didn’t feel right creatively… He and I talked, and I totally got it. And it wound up being the best thing, so now we leave that open for the future,” he added.

For those who are unaware, Ryan Reynolds filled Eteon’s voice role in the movie. It would have been interesting to see Reeves in the spin-off movie. Sadly, so it didn’t happen. But with Hobbs and Shaw part 2 in the making, maybe there is still hope for him to join the cast, as the director once confessed his desire to bring him into the fold.

Hobbs and Shaw part two on the way

After so long, finally, ‘The Great One’ is coming back home to his fast family. The film fanatics saw him in the post-credits scene of Fast X. In addition, the wrestler-turned-actor confirmed he will reprise his role in Fast X part 2 earlier this month.

But before that, he will appear in the second part of the Fast spinoff Hobbs and Shaw. According to the 51-year-old actor, the spinoff part 2 movie will hit the theaters before the next installment of the franchise. Johnson parted his ways with the franchise after 2019 Hobbs and Shaw because of his animosity with his co-star Vin Diesel.
