Dwayne Johnson’s New ‘Fast and Furious’ Standalone Film Could Feature an Epic Collaboration Between The Rock and ‘The Greatest Villain of the Franchise’

Spin-off movies are a surefire way to keep a billion-dollar franchise’s name in fans’ minds. Given the success of Hobbs and Shaw, Dwayne Johnson was eager to give us another spin-off movie. Even without Vin Diesel, the poster child of the Fast franchise, the spin-off garnered $760 million worldwide.

In addition to that, this second spin-off movie is rumored to have a big action star. Not only has this actor already been a part of two of the biggest movie/TV series already, but his inclusion in Fast X got him the title of ‘The Greatest Villain of the Franchise.’

According to Production Week, the title for the new spin-off has been decided. Titled, Hobbs and Reyes, similar to the first one, it explicitly states that Jason Momoa will be joining Johnson in this new movie. While there have been no other details, like the cast or release date, this news is enough to get fans pumped.

After meeting with the director and planning everything in secret, Johnson made his return, and it got the biggest reaction. Johnson’s return was a blast for fans already, but this news is akin to a cherry on the cake. If a spin-off movie with Jason Statham raked in a huge profit for the franchise, Momoa will probably deliver in this next spin-off movie.

But there is a major difference between Momoa and Statham. While fans love Statham, Momoa’s performance in Fast X got him the title of the best antagonist in the franchise’s history.

Why is Jason Momoa being regarded as the ‘best Fast and Furious’ antagonist?

Having great experience playing Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones and Aquaman in the DCEU, Momoa had already got the fans’ love in multiple big-budget series in the past. Just after Momoa’s appearance in Fast X was announced, fans were excited, but his part in the movie shocked everyone.

From his Joker-esque acting to his dark jokes, Momoa fired on every cylinder in his first major villain role in movies. The character’s charisma was enough for the fans to want more of Momoa in the franchise.

Add to that, Momoa’s character is the smartest and most successful villain in the franchise’s history. This puts him well and beyond every other antagonist, even Johnson’s Hobbs in Fast and Furious 5.
