There are only a few moments when we have seen Dwayne Johnson opening up about his life before fame. While we all know about his seven dollars story, Johnson also went through things before that.

While his journey from failed footballer to superstar wrestler is one that will get motivated by anyone, there are many layers to the man known as The Rock.

Being from a heritage family, he has had a hard life, growing up with expectations and aspirations. But while we see him being famous and rich, his own family wasn’t rich or famous.

His father, being a wrestler in the ’70s and ’80s, was a part-timer for many wrestling promotions. Also, not only did he have to live without money, but also with a suicidal person, his mother.

Dwayne Johnson once opened up about his struggles through his teenage years

In the Entertainment Online interview that happened in 2014, Johnson was opening up about his teenage years.

He said, “I didn’t want to do a thing, I didn’t want to go anywhere, I was crying constantly. Eventually, you reach a point where you are all cried out. The dreams I had, they’re dashed. There is no more football. My relationship was crushed. That was my absolute worst time… I looked in my pocket, and I had seven bucks. Wow! Seven bucks to my name.

Mental health is an important factor that Johnson has informed many people about. Despite his larger-than-life aura, Johnson has many times shown vulnerability in front of the camera.

When the man lost his father, Johnson was the first one to admit that he was hurting. Even during an interview alongside Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, he opens up about having their support during that difficult time.

In the interview, Johnson goes on to speak about another moment when he felt vulnerable. The death of Paul Walker, his co-actor from the Fast & Furious series, took a toll on many people, and Johnson was one of them.

Losing such a good friend and co-worker led Johnson to feel hurt, and he talked about it. These vulnerable moments make Johnson a great idol figure for many aspiring sportspersons and actors.
