Dwayne Johnson Could Earn a $20M Worth Movie Role as Johnny Depp Reportedly Backs Out

For the past few years, Dwayne Johnson is closely associated with Disney Studios. He has acted in several Dinsey movies until now. But has several times expressed to work in one of Johnny Depp’s films. As per the recent report, The Rock could land Depp’s role as the 60-year-old actor doesn’t want to return to Disney.

The Brahma Bull’s last Disney movie was The Jungle Cruise along with Emily Blunt. But he might get the role in this $20 million worth Disney film as Depp has confirmed he is not returning to the studios.

A report in Daily Mail talked about Johnny Depp and Disney’s future of working together. As his ex-wife accused the 60-year-old actor, Disney removed him from the sixth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

However, after Depp won the trial, Disney approached the star to return to the franchise, but he rejected it. As per Daily Mail UK, the actor has no interest in working with Disney Studios. This is after they “dropped” him out of the film during the trial. This makes Dwayne Johnson the actor to play Jack Sparrow if Disney ever casts him.

The report stated, “Despite furious speculation about the actor’s potential return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise – which reports suggested could earn him up to $20 million – Depp is, his pals say, done with Disney once and for all because he is still furious over the way the studio unceremoniously ‘dropped him’ when his ex-wife Amber Heard accused him of abuse.”

It further said, “Last week, Disney studios President Sean Bailey made global headlines when he said that the studio was ‘noncommittal at this point’ about Depp’s return. It was widely taken as a gambit to leave the door open for Depp, following his win in court in Virginia last year over domestic abuse allegations.”

There was another report saying Disney was ready to pay Depp $301 million to return. However, he isn’t interested to return to the movie nor wants to work with Disney in the near future. Hence, this could be a huge opportunity for DJ if Disney casts him as Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean’s future installments.

The Rock’s previous Disney movies

The WWE legend has done a couple of top-notch Disney movies in the past few years. Moreover, he has had a good relationship with the studio for a long time now. However, he has done only four films until today.

The films are The Game Plan (2007). Race to the Witch Mountain (2009), Moana (2016), and The Jungle Cruise (2021). There is also a live-action Moana film in the works now. Furthermore, a few months back it was reported DJ would not be cast as Jack Sparrow. However, if that happens along with the live-action Moana film, DJ will have six Disney movies.
