The year 2022 didn’t end well for Dwayne Johnson, as he had to leave DCEU after the failure of Black Adam. It was the dream project for The Brahma Bull since DC pitched the character to him during the first Shazam movie. However, as Shazam: Fury of Gods released the past weekend, it hasn’t created the magic as its first part. The fans are blaming The Rock and Black Adam for the same.

Black Adam released last year in October and shortly after that Peter Safran and James Gunn announced new plans for DCEU that don’t involve DJ’s character.
Shazam: Fury of Gods earns less that its first part
The first part of Shazam was loved by the fans as it was a new super hero introduced in DC. However, its sequel hasn’t earned the same amount at the box office as first. Surprisingly, the fans are blaming The Rock for this disappointment.
As per the report of Heroic Hollywood Shazam: Fury of Gods earned an estimated $30.5 million at the box office from 4,071 theaters over the weekend. However, this is 44% percent less than what Shazam earned in 2019, which $53.5 million opening weekend.

In a tweet last year ‘The Great One’ shared, he fought with the studios for a single Black Adam movie. The Rock wrote, “💯 true Original script had both #BlackAdam #Shazam establishing their origin stories in one film. I fought hard for both characters (+ JSA) to have their own stand alone films for the fans to enjoy. And protect Black Adam’s ruthless & extremely violent tone as we build out #DCEU”
💯 true
Original script had both #BlackAdam #Shazam establishing their origin stories in one film. I fought hard for both characters (+ JSA) to have their own stand alone films for the fans to enjoy.

Shazam and Black Adam are arch-rivals of each other in the comics. The original plans were to introduce both characters in the first Shazam movie in 2019, but DJ has some other plans. Hence, the fans are blaming the WWE legend for the same.
Fans blame Dwayne Johnson on Twitter for Shazam 2’s disappointment
There was a report a few months back about The Rock passing an opportunity for a cameo in Shazam 2. However, as Black Adam is a Shazam villain, many expected him to appear in the sequel. However, that didn’t happen and probably fans will never see DJ’s ‘Black Adam’ vs Zachary Levi’s ‘Shazam’ on the big screen.
This has disappointed the fans and they blamed Johnson for the same. Below are some of the reactions showing the fans blaming DJ.
Shots fired at The Rock for making a standalone Black Adam film!
Dudes literally a freaking Shazam villain but Dwayne Johnson has such an inflated ego that he wanted to scrap that and turn black Adam into a superhero. Black Adam is FAR from being a superhero lmfao 😂

Dwayne Johnson really thought a character that literally leans on the entire Shazam mythology was gonna take over the DCEU. Dude then allegedly wouldn’t even cameo in Shazam 2 https://t.co/40P9lGWgYN

This. If it wasn’t for Dwayne Johnson’s stupid ego, his Black Adam could’ve been a great foil for Zachary Levi’s Shazam. Probably would’ve given the franchise the juice it needed to survive https://t.co/LNaHuwrXR5

Dwayne Johnson could have had 2 more appearances as Black Adam but had to have a big ego.💀 pic.twitter.com/lHux9gtpH4

We will never get to see Shazam vs Black Adam in a DCEU movie.
It is kinda funny that shazam has like two notable villains, and they fully cannot use one of them because dwayne johnson decided to have a bizarre manic episode https://t.co/CVyeM2bgu5

I just want to say that I’m a little bit disappointed and sad that I and other DC fans won’t be able to see Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam clash with Zachary Lev’s Shazam. Even though I can see the connections. However, I am glad Black Adam’s influence marks Shazam’s sequel. pic.twitter.com/etEquWZ3C8

Well, Black Adam had two opportunities to appear in Shazam!
Hate say it really Dwayne Johnson fault two opportunities be first and second movie for Shazam turned them both down. Yet so obsessed fight Superman instead Shazam weird to me. https://t.co/fJjwZt6X5k

Dwayne Johnson wanted Black Adam to be a big-league anti-heroic figure who would have beef with Superman, not just a Shazam villain. Unfortunately, Black Adam is a Shazam villain.

If stars align in the future, we might see The Rock return as Black Adam in the DCEU multiverse.
