McIntyre righted one of his biggest wrongs and reclaimed the title that he carried so proudly and so well for the majority of 2020. He also books his ticket to Survivor Series against the WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Drew McIntyre came strong out of the gates

The match started with both men coming out of the gates fast and furious. Drew was quick to drop Orton with the Glasgow Kiss and a vicious spinebuster. Such was the ferocity of the challenger against the cowering champion.

Orton knew he would be bested by the angry McIntyre and even tried to escape from the match. He tried losing by count-out, but WWE official Adam Pearce once again became a thorn in the Viper’s scales.

Pearce announced that the match would have no count outs and no disqualifications. Unfortunately for Drew, it played right into Randy Orton’s wheelhouse. Orton proceeded to readjust the spine of Drew McIntyre with vicious steel chair attacks.

The fight spilled to the outside with Orton planting Drew on the edge of the barricade and the announcer’s table with back suplexes. McIntyre returned the favour by planting Orton on the table with back-to-back suplexes. He then went for the Claymore but missed and landed atop the table with a sick thud.

Orton set up a table at ringside, only to go through it himself. He regained his momentum with a superplex from the top rope. Orton looked to hit the RKO, but McIntyre tried a backslide pin to surprise Orton.

McIntyre hit the Future Shock DDT and looked to end things with the Claymore, but Orton surprised him with a beautiful counter. As McIntyre rushed in, Orton hit a picture perfect, perfectly timed powerslam for a nearfall.

Orton hit McIntyre with the draping DDT off the announcer’s desk to the floor. He pulled him to the apron and delivered the same move again inside the ring. As Orton looked to hit the RKO, Drew pushed him away and smashed him with the match winning Claymore Kick.

McIntyre celebrated with his newly reclaimed championship. “Set a chair for me at the table, ’cause I’m coming for dinner,” said McIntyre, delivering a stern warning to the WWE Universal Champion.
