Despite playing babyface, CM Punk didn’t try to mince his words or sugarcoat anything upon his return. It is exactly what fans have known Punk for. So, is Drew McIntyre going the same path as Punk from 2013? Well, maybe. McIntyre has shown similar traits where he cannot be considered as a complete heel as he continues to justify his heel acts. After weeks of beef with Punk, McIntyre has now used Punk’s words against him to further his storyline.
Drew McIntyre adds salt to CM Punk’s injury
Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre continued his barrage of insults for CM Punk on social media as he took to X on February 5th. He tweeted a line spoken by Punk on his first appearance on the WWE regular TV program. McIntyre tweeted, “I’m not here to make friends; I’m here to make money 😏.” Punk had said the exact words in an episode of RAW on 27th November, last year.

This was another jibe taken by The Scottish Warrior on The Second City Saint after a series of verbal barrages on social media. Since their promo on RAW before Royal Rumble, the two superstars have been developing a beef between them.

However, Punk got injured at Royal Rumble and everybody thought that the storyline would be derailed. However, McIntyre has kept it alive as he unveiled a Punk meme T-shirt on the last episode of RAW.

It started from a segment on RAW when Punk came face to face with The Scottish Warrior. After a heated segment, McIntyre made fun of Punk’s injury from Royal Rumble. He even tweeted a customised meme by mocking Punk’s dream of main eventing WrestleMania. McIntyre took it a step further when he unveiled on this week’s RAW that he was wearing a merchandise T—shirt of the same meme.

The promo not only helped keep the storyline alive but also helped develop heat for McIntyre who is finding reasons to justify his heel run. While the fans know that McIntyre is a bonafide main eventer, he is finding it tough to break through a barrage of superstars in WWE’s stacked roster. So, will we see McIntyre feature in another main event at WrestleMania 40?
