On Monday Night RAW, Drew McIntyre came out as a broken man. He competed at Clash at the Castle in his home country of Scotland against Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight title. During the promotion for the match, he claimed it was dedicated to his wife, who was in surgery.
Despite his best efforts, CM Punk cost him the match and the title. On RAW, he came out to say that he quit and was leaving the company. Moreover, he left social media, and his X account showed no posts. This led fans to believe that the WWE may be planning to send the Scottish Warrior off on leave.
This would make sense as his wife underwent surgery while he was performing at WWE’s PLE. However, things took an unannounced turn on the latest episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown. He appeared and attacked CM Punk, leaving his beaten and bloodied body in front of Punk’s hometown fans. This was McIntyre’s attempt to avenge his embarrassment in Scotland.

In the show’s narrative, Homelander has lost all inhibition and is set to rampage. This may hint at what McIntyre fans will see on the next Monday Night RAW episode. With Seth Rollins back in the company and ready for a title shot at Money in the Bank, there are chances that McIntyre will get involved in his storyline once more. So, why was Punk attacked?

There are two reasons that fans have theorized after the attack. The first and most obvious was the fact that Punk isn’t medically cleared to wrestle. During the conference after the Clash at the Castle PLE, Punk claimed that he would appear on SmackDown to give the good news that he was cleared. However, throughout his promo, he never once mentioned anything related to his injury or what the doctors said.
The second reason is the personal angle. As mentioned earlier, by making McIntyre lose at CATC, Punk humiliated the Warrior on his home turf. The beatdown on SmackDown was a result of that. Taking Punk’s bracelet was to ensure this feud gets personal. What did you think about the social media post and the whole segment? Tell us in the comments.
