WrestleMania 36 was one to remember for the ‘Scottish Psychopath’ Drew McIntyre. Earlier, he had returned to WWE as a force to be reckoned with, and on the main event of the second night, McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar to win his first WWE title.
However, the win fell short to some extent as there was no live crowd to celebrate with McIntyre. As a result, the match and the event took place at WWE Performance Center.
As retribution, this year, McIntyre will be opening the show. He will go up against current WWE Champion Bobby Lashley in the opening match of WM 37 on April 10.

McIntyre wrote on Twitter, “I’ve said for the last year I want to be the first person out when crowds return. I can’t wait for that noise to hit. I just feel bad for everyone having to follow me and Bobby, we’ll set the standard, you all try and keep up.”

Drew McIntyre describes the difference between this year and last year’s WrestleMania
In an interview with DAZN, McIntyre weighed in on the differences. He looked back and said not having the fans was definitely a negative point of the show.
“The final pieces of Drew’s puzzle were coming together. I was finally being myself from a personality standpoint and finding exactly who I was going to be to make it to that top, top-level and making that connection with the fans and getting some incredible responses until obviously, we lost them for the past year and a WrestleMania itself.”

“The ultimate challenge to put me on top of the mountain was defeating one of the most unique and biggest superstars we’ve ever had in this industry, Brock Lesnar, and that journey beating Brock and put me on top within the past year.”
While discussing his match with Lashley, Drew compared it to a modern-day classic.
“Lashley-McIntyre will be highly physical and be highly athletic. It’ll be like a modern-day heavyweight classic, and I guarantee you that people were talking about it for a very long time,” McIntyre said.
