‘The Iconic’ Goldberg and Drew McIntyre finally clashed at the 2021 WWE Royal Rumble. In fact, their WWE Championship match set up a perfect tone for the rest of the Pay-Per-View. ‘The Scottish Warrior’ not only earned Goldberg’s respect post-match but also wrote his name in history books when he defeated Goldberg clean as a whistle.

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre squashed Goldberg in just under three minutes, giving the WWE Hall of Famer a taste of his own medicine. ‘The Scottish Warrior’ won the match after two Claymore Kicks and became only the fourth man in history to defeat ‘The Iconic’ Goldberg with a clean pinfall victory.
Drew McIntyre squashing Goldberg is something we predicted several times in the days building up to the Royal Rumble. It was great to see McIntyre get the dominating victory as he is the true face of the WWE and not Goldberg. We are glad Vince McMahon did not repeat the mistake he made last year at WWE Super ShowDown.
Who are the other men to defeat Goldberg clean?
Nobody in the WWE and WCW could defeat Goldberg clean from his debut in 1997 to 2004. His first clean loss came at WrestleMania 33 when Brock Lesnar defeated him for the Universal Championship. This would mark the end of his and Lesnar’s rivalry that had an open end in 2004.
The Undertaker is the second man who has defeated Goldberg clean on the mat. Although their match at WWE Super ShowDown was forgettable, the loss counts for Goldberg. Now, after Lesnar and Undertaker, there was another big man who defeated the WCW Legend – Braun Strowman.

Goldberg and Roman Reigns were supposed to collide for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36, but plans changed due to Roman pulling out. Braun Strowman replaced Reigns and defeated Goldberg at WrestleMania 36 to win the Universal Championship.
To sum it all, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Braun Strowman, and McIntyre are the only four men in WWE and WCW history to defeat Goldberg clean 1-2-3.
