While we all know Dwayne Johnson is one of the greatest men to step into the wrestling ring, this was not his initial dream. All his life, he had seen his father being out of work and doing nothing because of the wrestling landscape, and he chose a different sport for himself; trying to make a name for himself in the football industry and win the Superbowl. But everything came crashing down when he was out of the Canadian league.

But he didn’t quit being the best. Whether it was his genes or talent inherited while working, or a mix of both, the man made a name for himself in WWE. This led to bigger and grander things that he didn’t even imagine.

After all the shifts and changes in his wild life, he has a grand house, a beautiful family, an enormous business, and a legacy to remember. But now, The Rock is celebrating it with his own brand of tequila in the city where he got his start.

Dwayne Johnson recalls his days before WWE in an emotional Instagram post

In an Instagram post that touched a lot of people, Johnson revealed his story before the glitz and glam of WWE. He started the video by saying that he was in Memphis, where it all started, before WWE and Hollywood. He spoke about his friend Downtown Bruno, who gave him a roof over his head while he was there.

He said that he wrestled in Memphis Wrestling with Bruno and Brian Lawler. They used to go every Saturday to earn $40 every week. Meanwhile, he also wrestled in the flea market, which was a big deal at the time.

Telling us about all of this, he added that this fame and glory he weaved out of struggles and hard work wasn’t his original dream. It was a successful football career he wanted, although he greatly values the exceptional journey he went through in pro wrestling.

Further, in the end, he said, “But the bottom line is that wasn’t my dream. But when I look back I’m so grateful, because of course hindsight 20-20, not that the dream didn’t come through. Isn’t it funny? Here’s a Teremana toast to all of you guys. This one is for you guys out there to the dreams that don’t come true.

Oftentimes in life, if you think back and the stuff you guys used to dream of years ago. But think about what you have today. So here’s to all you guys and the dreams that don’t come true because sometimes there are the best things that never happen.

That was one of the most vulnerable and honest we have seen The Rock in any video. His smile and optimistic outlook on life are the reason we love this guy so much.
