Broadcaster Ariel Helwani appeared on WWE SmackDown to talk about Sami Zayn’s upcoming title shot against Reigns at the Elimination Chamber this Friday. It seemingly didn’t sit well with Tony Khan, who took to his Twitter to lash out at him afterward. But it is not only the AEW CEO who had a harsh take on Helwani. Ex-WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman also came up with a bunch of tweets, condemning Helwani for his unethical deeds.
The veteran WWE personality, Jonathan Coachman, started his alliance with WWE back in 1999. During his tenure at the company, ‘The Coach’ served multiple roles as an interviewer, announcer, host, heel authority figure, and occasional wrestler as well. Coachman worked with ESPN from 2008 to 2017. On the other hand, Ariel Helwani left ESPN in 2021 after a three-year contract.

Following the ongoing war of words between Tony Khan and Ariel Helwani on Twitter, Jonathon came up with his opinion about Helwani. He tweeted, ”It’s really cool to see an event that Ariel can actually get in the building for. I would be excited also. If you don’t know NOW YOU KNOW!!!!”

Readdressing the 2016’s incident when UFC reportedly banned Helwani and his very short tenure with ESPN, Jonathon followed up in another tweet, ”Ariel is not allowed in the building for ufc events. And espn clearly didn’t know when they hired him. Which is why he only lasted one contract.”

The former WWE presenter also mentioned how his attitude toward pro wrestling upsets him and many others as well. ”Also, the mockery he makes of pro wrestling like he could EVER do it not only upsets me but a lot of people actually IN the business,” Jonathan added.

Again pointing out Ariel’s journalistic shortcomings, he went on, ”You either have to be one or the other. And when you are 140 pounds and won’t get physical EVER, then don’t talk trash and be a journalist.”
Tensions between Tony Khan and Ariel Helwani
Ariel Helwani has had a tense relationship with Khan ever since the infamous interview on Helwani’s MMA Hour show. Helwani appeared on SmackDown last week as a ‘combat sports journalist’ to hype up Sami Zayn’s appearance on the show. This triggered Khan, who labeled him as a “fraud” later on social media. The journalist also didn’t refrain from firing back at his ‘old friend’ thanking him for taking the time out to watch him on WWE TV. He even mentioned that he was waiting for their next chat.
