From slamming opponents to smashing the box office; from entertaining the masses to kicking candy-asses. Dwayne Johnson is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Since the beginning of his career, both in wrestling and in acting, The Rock has not held back at all. Hence, it shouldn’t surprise us he won the Hollywood Critics Association’s Trailblazer Award.

Dwayne Johnson wins the Trailblazer Award

Dwayne Johnson has had an iconic wrestling career. He’s won multiple accolades, from the WWE Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the Royal Rumble and many more.

His Hollywood career is nothing short of awesome as well. Dwayne debuted in the iconic The Mummy Returns where he portrayed the Scorpion King. He played the same role in the movie, ‘Scorpion King’ which shot him into the stratosphere. His more popular roles came in movies like Fast and the Furious, Jumanji, Hercules and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

As for the Trailblazer Award, it is the Rock’s philanthropy that won him the accolade. During his WWE career, he was an integral part of the Be-A-Star anti-bullying campaign and the Make-A-Wish program. His activism stretches to the Democratic party’s campaigns, and even to relief funds for Hurricane Harvey, the Hawaii floods in 2018 and more.

Dwayne Johnson even founded the Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation, a charity working with at-risk and terminally ill children. Such activities led to the Hollywood Critics Association awarding him the Trailblazer Award.

The Rock’s WWE career

Dwayne’s had an incredible WWE career prior to his film career. He main evented WrestleMania 15 and 17 against his most iconic rival Stone Cold Steve Austin. Rock won the Intercontinental Championship within his first year as a wrestler, and his match against Triple H at SummerSlam 1998 is one of the best ladder matches of all time.

He won the WWE Championship multiple times, and his wars against Triple H, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, and of course Austin are legendary. Even after his film career really picked up, he returned to have a significant run as the WWE Champion.

His rivalry with John Cena remains one of the best rivalries in wrestling. Despite ruining it with the ‘Twice in A Lifetime’ match, The Rock and John Cena created magic on the mic and the ring. Not to mention his stunning matches with CM Punk at the Royal Rumble and the Elimination Chamber also made news.

He is definitely heading into the WWE Hall of Fame, but a retirement match should be on the cards some time soon.
