Dwayne Johnson is arguably one of the finest WWE superstars turned Hollywood actors. He has succeeded in both industries and left an enormous mark for the future generation to look up to. But the former WWE Champion was a football player in his youth and wanted to succeed in the sport professionally.
A few years ago, a Twitter page ‘A Season With’ shared a rare gif of Dwayne Johnson. The gif had The Rock in curly hair on the football field. The tweet was, “When the weekend was 🔥 & then you check your bank account on #Monday 😕 #ASeasonWith #Noles @FSU_Football @TheRock”.

Dwayne Johnson replied to the tweet. He found the gif, which was from his college days, hilarious. Also, in it, The Rock with curly hair gives a smoldering look around the football field. Johnson commented on why he was bald after watching this gif.
He tweeted, “Why I luv GIFs. I’m not bald because I went bald. I’m bald because my hair is a cross between an afro and hair from a Lama’s ball sac. #TheU”.

Over the years, many of his fans have thought that Johnson suffers from male pattern baldness. Instead, being hairless is his voluntary choice. With this gif being posted, he made a funny reference to hair and told the reality of staying bald.

Johnson is indeed true about his hair. If he grows his hair, he might not be able to maintain it on a regular basis. For the record, Dwayne Johnson is half-Samoan from his mother’s side and a half – Canadian from his father’s side. His curly hair is a combination of both the genes he got from his parents.

When did The Rock go bald?
Dwayne Johnson debuted in WWE with his curly hair and had that hairstyle until they sidelined him because of an injury in 1997. He returned in August 1997, but this time had a new hairstyle that suited his heel turn in the Nation of Domination.
The Rock started keeping hair short when 2001 arrived. He kept the same hairstyle till 2004, when he left WWE to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. While in his career in Hollywood, he opted for short hair. We can assume he might have gone bald around 2010 or 2011.

However, since 2011 Dwayne Johnson is voluntarily bald and has never grown hair. If needed, he can use wigs to play a character with hair in the movies. Johnson has gone through a major transition over the years in his looks and there is no doubt that setting the bald style as default has clearly become his identity.
