One of the first marketable and worldwide WWE superstars was Hulk Hogan. His influence over the industry is undeniable, and the influence doesn’t limit to wrestling only. Making his first appearance in Rocky III alongside good friends like Mr. T and Sylvester Stallone, Hogan made his Hollywood appearance. But since then he hasn’t bagged any big-name directors to feature him in a movie.

The Hulkster’s movie career didn’t flesh out after that. So, he decided to stick to what he knew better; wrestling. First, he wrestled in WCW under the stable that he created alongside Razor Ramon and Diesel. His popularity reached such a height that WCW could compete with WWE every Monday. But when failed in WWE again, he moved to TNA, which later shut down and reopen under the name Impact Wrestling.

The moment when Hulk Hogan lied about getting a role in a popular film

On the Howard Stern show, Hogan claimed that he had been offered the role in one of the best films of 2008, ‘The Wrestler’. He said, “When the script for ‘The Wrestler’ kept coming to me I said, ‘This movie is so good if you put me in the film as a wrestler people are going to say, no credibility, Hulk Hogan isn’t a good actor, whatever Hollywood thinks of me.’

But the director of the movie, Darren Aronofsky, revealed the reality of the situation.

He tweeted, “for the record, the role of the wrestler was always @mickeyrourke. It was never hulk hogan’s as he claims on @howardstern.” This puts Hogan’s claim false.

This was a landmark movie about wrestlers and garnered huge critical acclaim. It is one of the few movies that scored 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and even won many awards at film festivals. Also, Mickey Rourke did such an amazing performance in the movie that he was nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards.
