WWE’s Road to WrestleMania will kick off in a few days after Royal Rumble takes place. This is good news for WWE fans not only because of WrestleMania 40 but also because the rumored release date for WWE 2k24 will draw closer. So far, neither the promotion nor the game’s publisher has released something significant about their upcoming video game.
However, WWE’s streaming partner, Peacock, has released footage on Twitter that gives us a glimpse at what WWE 2k24 may look like when it’s available to play on different platforms. Video game and wrestling fans may want to fasten their seatbelts for this one.

One of the more exciting features of WWE games is recreating epic battles using wrestlers who were originally involved in a certain feud and seeing how things would end alternatively. However, some fans of the game series have always wanted a feature where they could make the choices for a certain wrestler’s career and see it affect the storyline ahead.
Peacock posted a video on their ‘X’ account that was a throwback to Sami Zayn‘s betrayal against Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble 2023. The twist was that this time around, the whole moment was built inside a video game that resembled WWE’s 2k series.
After a short cutscene, the camera pans out as a player seems to be in control of Sami Zayn. Upon selecting the right prop for the moment, the screen then flashes with a choice of whether to betray or comply with The Bloodline’s wishes to hurt Kevin Owens further. The player in the video chooses to betray The Tribal Chief, resulting in a warning that verifies the player’s decision and then the game continues based on the choice made.
Although Peacock used this technique to promote the fact that fans can stream all episodes of WWE, they could also be teasing these ‘role-playing’ or RPG elements that may be included in WWE 2k24.

Since WWE 2k15, players have been enjoying ‘showcase’ mode in the form of DLCs where they got to play through the story of a given wrestler. In the upcoming 2k24, rumors suggest that Bray Wyatt could be the center of the new showcase mode.

This would be done in order to honor the memory of “The Fiend” and his contribution to the WWE universe. The ‘era’ that the mode would follow is still unknown due to the fact that this news itself is a rumor for now. But if showcase mode is mixed with RPG elements shown in the video posted by Peacock, it may gain quick popularity among fans.
