The ‘Undisputed Finale’ is finally over at NXT TakeOver 36, and it was not the ending that Adam Cole hoped for. Former teammates Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly went at each other like crazy on tonight’s TakeOver 36 event.
However, at one point in the match, Cole paid tribute to his partner Britt Baker, who is the AEW Women’s Champion by applying the Lockjaw. It seems like Baker noticed the move and immediately took to Twitter and expressed her gratitude.

Yes, it seems like a subtle tribute to her partner, but could it be more than just that? Earlier, PWInsider reported that this might be the last match for Cole at NXT.
This is because Cole’s WWE contract expired earlier this year, however, he signed for an extension for his contract, which ended tonight after TakeOver 36.

Now, it is not clear what WWE had planned for Cole after this defeat, but it was rumored that WWE CEO Vince McMahon offered Cole a lucrative contract.

The match was a 2 out of 3 falls with unique stipulations. The first fall was a traditional wrestling match which was chosen by O’Reilly, the second fall was a street fight which was chosen by Cole, and the third fall was a Steel Cage match which was chosen by NXT General Manager William Regal.

For now, no one knows what is the next step for Cole in WWE, but given AEW’s record of hitting talented wrestlers, it is possible that Tony Khan might contact Cole.
