Despite Taking Steroids With Him, Hulk Hogan’s Former Hated Rival Revisits 69-Year-Old Legend’s Troubled History for No Reason

The WWE ring has given birth to several rivalries over the years. Some of them even lasted after the legends involved in it got retired. And one that would top this list would be the feud between Hulk Hogan and The Iron Sheik. Even now, after leaving pro wrestling for years, they seem to take a dig at one another. 

In The Hulkster’s wrestling career, Iron Sheik played a prominent role. One can even say that their pivotal feud led Hogan to become the face of WWE. The Iranian-American was one of the biggest heels in the business throughout his prime. And one whom he hated the most on-screen was none other than Hogan. However, as the kayfabe element remained undisclosed in the day, the lines between fiction and reality appear blurred at times.

Wrestling fans must be aware of the subject matter of steroid use in the industry. Through the years, several celebrated wrestling icons have fallen from their decorated careers due to their alleged involvement with steroids. Two such names are of the WWE rivals, Iron Sheik and The Hulkster. Even Sheik once admitted that he took steroids with Hogan. But now, he took a dig at his former rival on the same matter.

Despite Hogan’s highlighting the reason behind his steroid use, his former rival couldn’t resist making fun of this critical allegation of him.

Taking it to Twitter, he took shots at the troubled history of Hogan by saying, “HOLD A SIGN THAT SAY FREE STEROID THIS WAY,” sharing one of The Hulkster’s pictures.

This action of the former WWE Champion refreshes fans’ memory of the duos’ rivalry from the 80s. And as we have already recalled this engaging feud, let’s delve a little more into what happened between the two back in the day. 

The intense feud between Hulk Hogan and The Iron Sheik

At the time of his title reign, Hogan was rising as an American hero in the industry, whereas the Iranian wrestler was doing his best to insult the USA any chance he got. This made a perfect storyline for the two to clash against each other. 

As soon as The Iron Sheik won the WWE Title over Bob Backlund, it set the groundwork for The Hulkster. Hulk Hogan gained fame after beating the then-WWE Champion, The Iron Sheik in 1984 at Madison Square Garden, leading to the birth of Hulkamania.

However, ever since that day The Iron Sheikh has been engaged in a largely epic and at times humorous one-sided off-screen rivalry with the Hulkster.
