The beautiful island of Maui has been undergoing a troubled time as of late. The Valley Isle has suffered wildfires since the beginning of August 2023, ravaging their landscapes and killing many innocent people. With the unfortunate destruction suffered by the people, Dwayne Johnson has once again shown up big for the islanders. In fact, this time he even found support from a $3 billion worth American hostess, author and actress.

They mentioned how Lahaina residents above 18 can receive a decent sum to help them through these troubled and trying times.

Johnson has been in the limelight for the past few weeks for all the right reasons. After helping out UFC fighter Themba Gorimbo by buying the athlete a house, he surprised everyone again. This time it was by joining forces with a 69-year-old American television icon and former Oscar nominee.

As the island reopens to tourists, the residents of Maui still require support to overcome the effects of the deadly wildfire. At this time Dwayne Johnson collaborated with Oprah Winfrey to create The People’s Fund of Maui.

According to NBC 7 San Diego, people above the age of 18 in the affected areas of Lahaina and Kula can get a phenomenal sum of $1200 each month to recover from the damage caused.

This is a remarkable update, despite the initiative receiving hate online. While the duo has kick-started this awesome campaign with a massive donation of $10 million, there’s still a long way to go. 

Though  their efforts are truly remarkable, they aren’t the only ones who have stepped up when needed. 

Celebrities joining the fight for the victims

A couple of weeks back, Tony Khan, AEW president, became one of the first people who helped the victims by mentioning all the proceeds from his shows would go to the Maui Food Bank.

Later, Dwayne Johnson joined Tony Khan to help out people in Maui. The megastar gave a shout-out to the affected people on his Instagram and asked all the local families to stay strong and for other people around the globe to show compassion. 

Besides them, several celebrities like Mia Taylor, Jason Momoa, and Johnson’s co-star from the movie ‘Moana’ Auli’i Cravalho have also chipped in with their efforts to help the islanders during this calamity.
