Despite Promising a Fortune Reversal for DCU, Dwayne Johnson Fails to Crack Google’s Most Searched Actors List

With 351 million followers on Instagram and another 16.8 million on Twitter, Hollywood megastar and WWE legend Dwayne Johnson boasts of a sizable social media presence.

It helps that The Rock is active on social media and posts almost regularly. His posts garner millions of likes and thousands of comments, which shows that his fans eagerly for them.

However, according to recent Google data, The Great One wasn’t among the top 10 list for either most searched actors or athletes.

Actor Johnny Depp, who grabbed the limelight for a defamation case involving his former wife Amber Heard, was the most searched celebrity. Heard ranked third. Others on the list are actors Joseph Quinn, Evan Peters, Andrew Garfield, Julia Fox and Ezra Miller.

Black Adam gets a nod

Even though Dwayne Johnson failed to find a place, his ambitious project, Black Adam, was amongst the most searched terms. The film ranked second in the movies category, just below Thor Love and Thunder. Tom Cruise’s Top Gun Maverick was placed third.

The Batman, Encanto, and Bollywood movie Brahmastra Part One Shiva ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth on the list, respectively. Jurassic World Dominion was seventh, followed by Indian film KGF Chapter 2. The ninth entry was Uncharted and Morbius completed the list.

Meanwhile, several Twitter users were left bemused with Black Adam’s name on the list.

Many opined that people searching for illegal torrents may have caused the search rate to spike. Some even suspected foul play and hinted at The Rock making payment to get favourable views.

Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson said that his latest offering, Black Adam, will make profits, squashing reports which stated otherwise. The wrestler-turned-actor also spoke about turning Black Adam into a franchise.

“Waited to confirm with financiers before I shared this excellent #BlackAdam news – our film will PROFIT between $52M-$72M. Fact. At almost $400M worldwide we are building our new franchise step by step (first Captain America did $370M) for the DC future,” his tweet read.

Dwayne Johnson’s friend ranks second on the list

Will Smith is arguably one of the most prolific actors to grace Hollywood. With multiple Oscar nominations, the actor-rapper is a versatile artiste. Apart from that, he’s also good friends with The Brahma Bull.

In a post shared by Smith on his Instagram a few days ago, the actor was seen goofing around with Johnson.

“You’re in his DMs. I’m shooting his slo mo walks. We are different. Inspo: @maxgoodrich,” Smith’s post read.

Meanwhile, Smith featured as the second most searched celebrity on Google in 2022. His wife Jada Pinkett Smith and comedian Chris Rock, both of whom were party to the infamous slapgate that rocked the Oscars, were also on the list.

Rock stood fourth while Mrs Smith was the fifth most searched term. 

He may not have made it to the list, but with a net worth of $800 million, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is arguably one of the world’s biggest entertainment personalities.
