Despite Playing His On-Screen Daughter, 18 Years Younger Hollywood Beauty Flirted With John Cena After Learning About His Crazy Marriage Plans Prior to His Painful Break Up With Nikki Bella in 2018

A few years after his WWE main roster debut, John Cena received his first credit in Hollywood. The WWE icon starred as John Triton in the 2006 released movie The Marine. While he went on to be a part of several other Hollywood ventures, his performances remained a little underwhelming. On the other hand, Cena managed to uplift his stocks in pro wrestling by putting in the hard yards in Vince McMahon’s promotion.

It wasn’t until 2015 that moviegoers gave John Cena and his performance a thumbs up. Cena’s second and current run in his acting career was propelled by his performance in the Hollywood rom-com Trainwreck. By then, he had already established himself as a legend in the pro wrestling world. Despite his legendary status, the 46-year-old was able to fool his co-actress about his job, leading to her deciding on proposing to him.

When John Cena lied about his job

After the success of Trainwreck, Cena hasn’t looked back. If anything at all, he has witnessed growth, both in terms of roles offered to him and the paycheck. Apart from being a part of big action flicks, Cena has also played subdued roles in other genres. The 16-time world champion appeared as a headstrong father in Blockers.

The sex comedy, which was released in 2018, also featured Australian actress Geraldine Viswanathan, in one of her early roles. The 28-year-old played Cena’s daughter in the film. Speaking to Los Angeles Times in 2018, she recalled her interaction with the WWE icon.

Viswanathan had seen Cena propose to Nikki Bella after their mixed tag team match against The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33. Cena kept a serious face and told his younger co-star that’s what he does for a living.

“Every single week I just ask a different person to marry me,” he explained the unusual nature of his job. Reacting to it, the 28-year-old flirted, “Ah, so that’s what it is! Maybe I’d be into it? That sounds cool!”

Cena and Bella, however, ended their partnership in mid-2018, ending their six-year-long courtship.

According to reports, Nikki Bella insisted on having kids of their own, while Cena opposed the idea. This reached a point where either star was not ready to move from their point of view.

A year after her split from The Cenation Leader, Bella started a new relationship with Artem Chigvintsev, her dance partner on season 25 of Dancing with the Stars. They got married in 2022 and have one child. Cena, on the other hand, tied the knot with Shay Shariatzadeh in 2020. This is Cena’s second marriage. He divorced his first wife, Elizabeth Huberdeau in 2012.

There have also been reports stating that John Cena is slowly warming up to the idea of having kids with his wife.
