CM Punk finally returned to the ring after months of hiatus at Royal Rumble this year. Unfortunately for his fans, the WWE legend had to take another break from action when he suffered a tricep injury to one of his arms. He came on the following Monday Night Raw to announce that he would be staying out of action for several months. But he is here quicker than we expected him to be.

Get ready to see CM Punk in April

The red brand show right before WrestleMania 40 would take place in Brooklyn, New Year, on April 1st. Usually, the weekly shows before a PLE are direct build-ups to the next live event that will take place at the coming weekend. In this case, WWE has already advertised the upcoming show with CM Punk’s face among the featured stars for the night. There are many stars featured in the Monday Night show, but Punk’s name is the highlight because of the given circumstances.

Several days ago, the wrestler revealed in a short interview that he wouldn’t be back in the promotion for the next 6-8 months. This means that we can only expect to see him wrestle in the latter half of 2024. However, this doesn’t mean that he can’t be involved in WrestleMania 40.

The ex-UFC fighter’s feature on Raw right before Mania suggests that he could be featured for a promo regarding the biggest PLE of the year. Although he has been found training his injured tricep muscle to become better, it seems highly unlikely that Punk would be there to wrestle.

Instead, we may see him announce his appearance as the host of the event. And if that is too much out of the picture, then the wrestler may also be seen being the guest referee for Seth Rollins‘ title bout against Drew McIntyre. Out of all the other matches, his being a referee in this one would make the most sense.

This decision was probably taken after WWE realized that CM Punk wasn’t mentally doing well following the injury.

CM Punk admitted his deteriorating mental health

Before his injury was officially announced, “The Best in the World” was being booked as the winner of the Elimination Chamber this year. However, because of the unforeseen circumstances, things took a turn and he couldn’t be in Perth for obvious reasons.

While promoting the event, Punk also dedicated an Instagram story to tell his fans that the current situation is taking a toll on his mental health because of how much he wanted to be at the event and perform for the audience.
