Ever since CM Punk acquired the status of a free agent, after being fired from AEW for his conduct, rumors have it that he’s heading to the iconic headquarters in Stamford. Punk, reportedly, is in talks with Endeavor-owned WWE for a return. But before he inks a bond, there’s some mending he needs to take care of.

As per reports, Punk has some legitimate heat with Roman Reigns, the company’s face. Something that even Reigns has hinted about in the past. But that didn’t stop the promotion from dropping another reference about The Best in the World.

It started a few weeks ago in RAW as Seth Rollins called himself the best in the world during a promo. While that had some pro wrestling enthusiasts interested, it wasn’t anything concrete. But The Visionary did it again on the last episode of the flagship brand.

Together with WWE color commentator Michael Cole, Rollins used references from Punk’s iconic ROH promo as words such as manipulator and puppeteer were sprinkled during their promo on RAW. Now, just days later, another commentator, Corey Graves, dropped a line that had a link with The Second City Saint.

“The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was making the world forget that he existed,” Graves said. This line or part of it was used by the former WWE Champion years ago before he even signed up with the WWE.

These hints, strewn across different segment, now makes it more evident that CM Punk could be on his way to signing a contract with his old employers. The grapevine has it that Punk might make his appearance during Survivor Series, which will take place in his home city of Chicago on November 25.

Meanwhile, what did Roman Reigns say about CM Punk? Let’s find out.

Know about the issue between Roman Reigns and CM Punk

The Straight Edge Warrior was in his prime when Reigns started out in the main roster. By the time The Big Dog was deemed a credible face in the company, Punk had exited the promotion. Differences aside, they have both been top guys, tied to a single string- Paul Heyman.

No wonder, there are always talks among fans about a rivalry between two of the greatest Heyman-managed talents. But Reigns isn’t entirely sure about it.

In an interview in 2021, he appeared unsure about what the rivalry would do for him. Reigns said if the fans wanted them to have a match, he was ready, but from a personal point, he saw it of little value.

That, however, was in 2021, before Reigns became the juggernaut he has become. With over 1000 days as the champion, it’s more about what Reigns can offer Punk if they fight. If they butt heads and Punk manages to win, it’ll give him a huge boost, even so late in his career.
