After departing from WWE, Rhodes competed around the world and notably in NJPW and AEW. And the wrestling promotions undoubtedly enjoy a massive fan following. However, they pale in comparison to the gigantic numbers associated with the wrestling juggernaut. The former Intercontinental champion stated he was not sure of his connection with the WWE fans before his Mania return in a report from ESPN.
He said, “The thing I was missing was a connection with the audience, I didn’t realize how important it is to connect with them. You can’t do this amazing high-speed, unbelievable sequence if no one’s watching. You gotta bring them into it, and then you can do whatever the heck you want.”
After a long time away from the company, Rhodes was bound to have some butterflies in his stomach. However, the huge pop that accompanied his entrance would have thrown any such doubts from his mind.

But WWE fans welcomed him back with open arms and even the 2023 men’s Royal Rumble winner seemed appalled at the grand reception. Such a reaction quashed any concerns that Cody Rhodes might have had regarding the crowd.
