During a recent interview, the popular actor made a shocking confession about Dwayne Johnson’s successful venture. G.I. He revealed his unapologetic statement about his true feelings towards the blockbuster G.I. Joe franchise. Tatum shed light on the pressure he had and why he acted in the film.
Tatum confesses not wanting to do the movie
Time and now Tatum has spoken his heart out in different interviews about G.I. Joe. Recalling the circumstances of his signing the film during a Vanity Fair lie detector test video, he explained, “The first one I passed on seven times, but they had an option on me and I had to do the movie”.
Reflecting on the root cause of him doing a three-picture deal, he continued further, “Look, I’ll be honest. I f**king hate that movie. I hate that movie. I was pushed into doing that movie. From ‘Coach Carter,’ they signed me to a three-picture deal…”
Tatum recalled being a young actor. A three-picture deal is a huge deal and the actor revealed his perspective then. He admitted that he saw it as a gateway for future prospects in the industry and more opportunities. The actor’s aspirations clashed with the studio’s plans when they reached out to him and offered the movie.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation was released in 2013. The action-packed sequel took audiences on a ride with its spectacular stunts, intense battle, and Dwayne Johnson’s power packed performance. The second installment subsequently introduced Dwayne Johnson as a prominent actor who went out to achieve great financial success.
