.When you talk of the finest wrestling commentators to ever grace the mic, two names come to mind: the charismatic duo of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. The tag team of these two greats on the commentary mic entertained the worldwide audience for decades. Every wrestling fan knows deep down that these two names are synonymous with WWE commentary.

Bob Bartlett had a brief stint with the WWE in 1993. He was one of the three original hosts on Monday Night RAW. He was accompanied by wrestling great Macho Man and the Boss himself, Vince McMahon. During his 13 weeks with the WWE, he was received very kindly. Superstars like The Nature Boy Ric Flair himself used to call him “Sir“.
But his experience with the Hulkster left an indelible impression on him. In an interview with Steve Fall of Wrestling News, he mentioned how Hulk Hogan was always very kind to him. He praised him, saying, “Nice, kind, supportive, talked about his movies. You know um because obviously, I think of myself to see you know Mr. Nanny and Suburban Commando. You know, again, he was really nice to me and had no reason to be. He could have played the big-time Hollywood star and looked down at those, but he wasn’t. He was very welcoming.”
But while wrestling heavyweights treated him with respect, there were others who poked fun at him for being an outsider.
Scott Hall and The Steiner Brothers took regular digs at Bob
Bob only had kind words for his wrestling contemporaries, but there were a few incidents that stuck in his head. Like on one occasion when Bob almost passed out. He elaborated, “I got teased. Razor Ramon used to break my chops all the time. The Steiner Brothers I remember, one of them sat on my lap and the other one pinched my Adam’s apple, to the point where I was going to pass out, but it was all in good fun.”
