As high-spirited his Father’s Day was, Johnson finds one aspect of the day “tricky”. And that is the fact that his father is not around anymore to get his wishes from his son.
Rocky Johnson passed away due to a heart attack on January 15, 2020. Unfortunately, Dwayne Johnson did not get to say his goodbyes to his father due to estrangement in their relationship.
Dwayne Johnson regrets not having his father around on Father’s Day

Dwayne Johnson has spoken volumes about his rough childhood. Like many people, Johnson was brought up with tough love. However, despite the ups and downs in his relationship with his dad, Johnson followed in his footsteps and became a professional wrestler. Even though Rocky Johnson was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2008 by his son, they were not on good terms during the former’s final days.
Taking to Instagram, Dwayne Johnson shared his regrets about not reconciling with his father before he left the world. According to The Rock, the father-son duo had a major spat a month before Rocky Johnson’s death.
He stated, “My old man died suddenly a few years ago. Unfortunately, we got in a fight about a month earlier and I never reconciled with him or even had a chance to say goodbye.”
Despite the joy of being a father, Johnson feels the pain of not having one anymore. He further added that instead of mending the fence with his father, he ended up writing his eulogy. He continued, “So for me, every Father’s Day has become very tricky because there’s a lot pain.”

Furthermore, Johnson urged his fans to end their rifts with their fathers and wish them a happy Father’s Day. Dwayne Johnson’s beautiful message reminds us all how life is too short to hold grudges against your loved ones. Although Johnson had a tumultuous ending with his dad, his father was his hero. And Rocky Johnson was proud of his son.

Dwayne Johnson had to conjure up all the memories of his father for his show The Young Rock. In 2021, The Rock’s TV show premiered on NBC Network. The show has delivered three seasons to this date. The Young Rock follows the life of a young Dwayne Johnson and the people from his Samoan community.

While speaking with ET’s Kevin Frazier, Dwayne Johnson discussed his complicated bond with his late father. Johnson considers himself lucky to have learned many life lessons from his father that hold a lot of value. He also stated that despite the tough love, his father was his hero.
