No successful individual can claim to make it all on their own without any help. There’s always a competition here and there, which honed them and made them who they are. The same is true for pro wrestling as well. Several superstars who have become icons have had to take on challenges from their peers. These feuds were instrumental in elevating them.
John Cena, who completed 20 years in the WWE last year, is no exception either. He benefitted from rivalries with various superstars during his prime. One among them is Edge. Recently, The Cenation Leader got emotional while paying tribute to his former rival. Now, Edge has shared a message for the 46-year-old.

‘The Rated R Superstar’ recently completed 25 years of wrestling in television as Edge. He was involved in a feud with Cena which started in 2006. Cena paid tribute by telling fans about Edge’s love of sports entertainment.
“I really hope everyone watching knows just how gifted and caring, and amazing Adam is. He’s just a… he’s a good human being, he’s a great human being, he loves sports entertainment. He’s given so much to you guys, and I also think he’s aware of what you’ve given him,” a tearful Cena said.
In return, Edge called Cena his foil. In a video shared by WWE, the 49-year-old sat down for a fun segment where he used words to describe various superstars. When a picture of the 16-time world champion was shown, he said, “My foil. Work Ethic. But there’s so much more there.”

It’s no surprise that Edge chose ‘work ethic’ to describe as the wrestler is renowned for it. Meanwhile, Edge failed to live up to the expectations of his fans a few weeks ago.
Edge falters in capturing the belt that he never lost
Edge validated Cena’s praise for him by making a return to wrestling in 2020. He entered at number 21 position at the Royal Rumble that year. Edge had to vacate his World Heavyweight Championship due to health complications in 2011 and retire, which meant he actually never lost the belt.
