It was a shocker for WWE fans when the legendary Dave Bautista left the promotion to carry on with a different career path. Although the wrestler had a legitimate reason behind his release, fans overlooked it due to the separation grief. Nobody wished for Bautista to leave. The wrestler kept on making stints in WWE. However, he eventually stopped appearing altogether. In an interview in 2021 ahead of his movie, Dune, he said, “I left a career in professional wrestling to take a chance on myself because I fell in love with acting.” This shows that even though ‘Leviathan’ left the ring, he never planned on leaving the camera. He decided to make a career in Hollywood side by side and left wrestling, eventually.

On a blessed day, ‘The Animal’ signed up for the biggest Hollywood movie franchise, the MCU. He planned on playing the iconic role of Drax ‘The Destroyer’ in the 2014 movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. The former wrestler then went on to serve Marvel fans for 7 blockbuster films. However, now he has mentioned how he is going to be leaving the franchise soon. Even though he will still be available on the big screen, he won’t repeat his role as Drax post-2023. In a recent interview, he also shared the parallels he found between his MCU role and his wrestling career in WWE.
Dave Bautista explains why he wouldn’t go back to wrestling
While the host, Jimmy Fallon, asks about how hard it must be to leave such an iconic role, ‘Leviathan’ couldn’t help but recall his ring days. “I constantly relate it to the way I ended my wrestling career,” shared Bautista in front of the audience. He relates the parallels he found between both his jobs. Moreover, he found it in the ripples of his exit from both.

“I ended it on a storybook note and I would never go back and tarnish that. And it’s the same with this,” explained the 54-year-old on why he does not want to go back to wrestling. According to him, it’s not about the paycheck but rather the integrity of the continuation he owes to his roles. “With Drax, I just got to end the perfect way and I would never sign up for another job as Drax just to get a paycheck,” added ‘Khan’.
Will Dave Bautista disappear after his Drax role?
The short answer is ‘no’. However, fans shouldn’t expect him to return to the iconic role. Whatever he said about relating the two careers, it cannot be proven otherwise. So, unless the former wrestler sees a change of heart, we can understand it to be pretty much the ending for ‘The Destroyer’ after fans catch him on the big screen for the last time in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’.
