Hulk Hogan is an accomplished pro wrestler and an amazing actor. But most importantly, a loving father. Despite having a busy schedule in his wrestling days, he always managed to spend more time with his children and become a better father.

That being said, many years ago, his quest to become a better father for his kids cost him a three hundred million deal, which would have added whopping numbers to his bank account.

On Late Night with Conan O’Brien in 2008, Hogan revealed how one day his efforts to do a better job as a father of two kids backfired on him. He stated he missed an important call that cost him millions of dollars when he went to pick up the kids from school.

He said, “So I left early [that day] like about 20 minutes early and I packed this little cooler. You put four, five cokes in with ice. So I get the prime spot right in front of Saint Cecilia’s School. The kids come out, ‘Dad, we can’t believe you’re right in front. First ones off the sidewalk, first in the car. ‘I’ve got a cold drink for you, too.’”

Hogan’s kids always complained about him picking them up late after school. So one day he decided to leave the house 20 mins early to reach the school early before the last bell of the day rang. His kids were happy to see him there reach on time.

But this also resulted in him missing a call from his promotions handler, Sam – who was also Foreman’s handler. While he was out picking up his kids, Sam called him to present a sponsorship deal. As he was hot home to pick up the phone, he gave the promotion deal to Foreman.

That is how Hogan lost a deal that later on turned into an enormous success in the consumer market.

Luck was not on Hogan’s side that day

The George Foreman Grill was released on the market in 1994 and has sold more than 100 units. During an interview, the heavyweight boxer George Foreman confessed he made $8 million dollars on a monthly basis from the sponsorship deal. Back in the day, rumors were floating around that Hogan turned down the grill deal.

However, during his interview with Conan O’Brien, he cleared all the rumors. He clarified the misfortune that took such an incredible opportunity from him. Hogan revealed that as he couldn’t get the grill deal, his handler gave him a deal to sponsor a blender.

The name of the blender was ‘The Thunder Mixer’ and it ran on two AA batteries. The deal was a flop in the market. Hogan then tried to make a comeback with ‘The Hulk Hogan Ultimate Grill’. But this venture also resulted in failure as it couldn’t give even the slightest competition to The George Foreman Grill.

Not that Hogan needs it, but it would have been nicer for Hogan to have some extra million dollars in the bank account if he had gotten the $300 successful deal. Where do you stand on this matter? Tell us in the comments box.
