“Crap”: Solo Sikoa Draws Fan Flak for Poor Bloodline Run After Cody Rhodes SummerSlam Announcement

The WWE SummerSlam card has just added a new match. Through its social media, the Stamford-based promotion has confirmed that Cody Rhodes will put the WWE Undisputed Championship on the line against Solo Sikoa. Last week, The American Nightmare guaranteed the fight to the leader of the new The Bloodline. But it was not until a few hours ago that the company made it official.

The rivalry between Rhodes and the faction led by Sikoa has become one of the main plots of Friday Night SmackDown. The new and self-proclaimed Tribal Chief has set himself the goal of regaining the glory of the faction. To do this, he has usurped the position of Head of the Table. Surrounding himself with new, more aggressive, and dangerous teammates who have put the brand in check.

However, it seems like the fans are truly not interested in having the matchup. Just a few months ago, The American Nightmare defeated Roman Reigns in one of the most hyped-up matches in the company’s recent history. Ending the Samoan’s historic reign. Now, the fans are getting to see Rhodes defend it against a WWE superstar who has yet to establish himself as a true menace on the roster. Despite his many attempts, fans are finding former MLW champion and new enforcer of the group, Jacob Fatu, a more serious contender to be a champion and Tribal Chief than Solo Sikoa.

While his appearing in a suit already takes away the menacing aura he once had, his complete reliance on his henchmen doesn’t help his case either. While this is Solo Sikoa’s attempt at regaining the title for The Bloodline and becoming world champion for the first time in his career, the matchup is already not being taken as seriously as the other matches in the card, which had a much better buildup. Such as the one between a returning Rhea Ripley and the women’s champion, Liv Morgan.

So as soon as the poster for the matchup was released on social media, fans took to the comments to share their reactions to the matchup. A majority of them admitted their concerns about the match.

Wrestling fans proclaim that Solo Sikoa is not worthy of vying for Cody Rhodes’ title

SummerSlam is the second most popular event in sports entertainment after WrestleMania. So the WWE surely prepares some amazing matches for the glorious event. However, when fans got served a match featuring an underdeveloped heel going off against the champion, they were surely disappointed, to say the least. Especially when they expected major returns such as that of the Rock or Roman Reigns.

While one fan questioned whether Cody Rhodes’ title run is being sabotaged to have such lackluster matches. Maybe The Rock‘s still using his TKO control over the creatives to make such bookings.

But whether he has control over the creatives or not, one thing is for sure his being related to wrestlers surely helps them grab the top spot. Many fans believed that Sikoa did not deserve a shot at the title. Especially when he has yet to do anything impactful as a superstar.

This will be Rhodes’ fourth title defense since he won gold 102 days ago at WrestleMania XL. Going by the prevailing fan sentiment, fans are hoping that The American Nightmare continues his glorious reign. They don’t want Rhodes to drop it to a character that is yet to earn some fan support. WWE SummerSlam 2024 will take place on Saturday, August 3 at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Fans will be able to watch this event live from the venue, or through its broadcast through Peacock in the United States and WWE Network internationally. So what do you think?
