Cody Rhodes is one of the superstars who will enter the Royal Rumble scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was a participant in the 2023 Royal Rumble match as well. He entered at number 30 and went on to win the match.

This year, CM Punk will also enter the men’s rumble match. He is a fan favorite to win the bout next month. That said will WWE give him the same Royal Rumble advantage (the coveted #30 spot) as they did Rhodes this year in January?

Entering at #30 has various advantages in the match. The #30 gets a fresh start against a ring full of wrestlers who are already exhausted. This makes eliminating the opponents and clearing out the ring easier. Last year ‘The American Nightmare’ capitalized on this advantage and secured a victory at the men’s rumble match.

The same could happen with Punk next month. Ever since he came back, WWE has been prioritizing him. And why wouldn’t they? His return has drawn in incredible profits for the company. Therefore, WWE can give him the same advantage that Rhodes received at tge last Rumble and hand him the number 30 spot. WWE can even make him the winner of the match setting up a feud with either Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns.

Who will be Punk’s first rival in WWE?

It has been a month now since Punk returned to WWE but he hasn’t properly started a program with anyone yet. The fans have been dying to see him enter a feud with some of the top names in the promotion. A few of them are former Shield stablemates, Rollins and Reigns. Both the superstars are title holders (World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Undisputed Universal Championship respectively) and have had personal issues with Punk in the past.

If Punk does enter at 30 and wins the Rumble match, then the Stamford-based promotion can finally give the straight edge superstar the WrestleMania main event he’s been begging for this past decade. In the past few weeks, he has shown signs of igniting a rivalry with ‘The Visionary’ and Reigns as well.

He has set foot inside the ring with both the former members of The Shield. In 2013, he wrestled Reigns, Rollins, and Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley) in a 3-in-1 handicap match at TLC. It would be interesting to see him wrestle these superstars once again.
