There is just no respite for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson from a rising WWE star at the moment. While Johnson is no stranger to feuds and criticisms from rivals, the latest attack comes from a 33-year-old wrestler who hasn’t been in the ring with The People’s Champ. The 51-year-old had earlier replied back to a criticism he had faced from the wrestler, but undeterred, the latter has fired back again.

Meanwhile, fans had a field day on social media after the rebuttal from Grayson Waller, Johnson’s latest ‘detractor’. In case you’re not aware of what’s happening, let’s recap the Grayson Waller-Dwayne Johnson feud.

Grayson Waller is a freshman in the main roster, currently performing on SmackDown. However, the Australian pro wrestler has managed to impress the WWE Universe in a span of two months, since his debut in May. While Waller has lost both of his main roster matches, his ability with the mic has stood out.

He is the host of The Grayson Waller Effect, a show that runs during SmackDown episodes, where the wrestler ribs guests- mainly his peers. Waller made his wrestling debut on the July 7 episode of SmackDown, which emanated from the iconic Madison Square Garden. His opponent was WWE Hall of Famer Edge, who earlier in the night was a guest at his show.

The 11-time world champion handed Waller his first loss, though he approved of the Australian’s wrestling skills after the match. A few days after his debut, Waller decided to call out Dwayne Johnson, claiming his debut at MSG was better. To rub the star, he also made fun of the attire Johnson donned for his first match in 1996.

The Brahma Bull shot back with his iconic “Jabroni” phrase and called Waller an “Outback Jack Off,” referencing his Australian heritage. Waller was able to counter that hit and termed Johnson’s burn as “classic 1999 schoolyard insults.”

On the latest episode of SmackDown, he accused The Rock of deserting his family, calling out The Bloodline implosion. “Everyone’s talking about Grayson Waller, including The Rock. The Great One himself. Every single week, his family is imploding right in front of him, every week on SmackDown. But he’s worried about me,” Waller said.

Grayson Waller wins plaudits from fans for calling out Dwayne Johnson

A section of the WWE Universe loves to hate Dwayne Johnson. The reason is the 10-time world champion’s absence from the promotion. Many have accused Johnson of ignoring WWE for his other projects, including movies. So, when Waller called him out and managed to elicit a response from The Great One, he found support from fans who encouraged him to keep up his work.

This fan has their eyes on the development and is curious to see if Waller gets to do the job that Roman Reigns couldn’t. Reigns was supposed to have a match with his cousin Johnson. There was hype about it before WrestleMania 39. However, it fell through the cracks as the wrestler-turned-actor cited a lack of match preparation to cancel his appearance.

Even though he’s getting the love, Waller’s kayfabe personality is that of a heel. This fan deemed that WWE has finally found a worthy man to do the job.

Johnson’s last-minute cancellation didn’t sit well with many fans, who resorted to berating the superstar. Looks like the feelings haven’t changed.
