Dwayne Johnson acknowledges Vince McMahon

While speaking on the latest edition of CNBC’s Squawk on the Streets, DJ revealed how much he respects ‘The Diabolical Owner of WWE’. This respect comes from the fact that McMahon took an average wrestling business and turned it into the biggest pro wrestling promotion in the world.

He said, “If you think about where Vince (McMahon) started. I often talk about my seven bucks moment, how I had seven bucks in my pocket when I was cut from the Canadian Football League. Vince had his seven bucks moment as well when he leveraged every dollar he had for the very first WrestleMania.”

He compared himself and McMahon and stated that their success stories are somewhat similar. Both of the stars started with almost nothing. But now they both have achieved something that only visionaries could. He said all of this while explaining why he thinks the UFC-WWE merger will turn out to be successful.

“I see, when I say smooth sailing, these guys are adamant on creating an incredible conglomerate that is going to entertain the masses. Between WWE, UFC, Bullriding, and probably other things that are coming down the pipe, I’m excited about this merger,” he added.

According to him, it will be exciting to see the $21 billion merger turning into a fruitful outcome since both the parties (McMahon and Ari Emanuel) have known each other for a long time. Surely it ain’t a piece of cake to build an empire out of basically nothing. But Mr. McMahon had it in him to do it, so he did it.

When McMahon was young, his father Vince McMahon Sr. ran the Capitol Wrestling Corporation. From a very young age, he developed a keen attraction to the wrestling business. He even became a wrestling promoter under his father’s business for quite some time.

While working with his father, he gained a lot of knowledge. In 1980, McMahon Jr. founded Titan Sports. And just two years later, he bought his father’s company from him. He named his company WWF, which later changed to WWE. His ambitions and dreams were big. So he did what other wrestling promoters in the country couldn’t do.
