Weighing at 220 Lbs, Cody Rhodes has had one of the most satisfying comebacks in wrestling recently. Not only has he re-defined his wrestling skills over the years but Rhodes also worked on his physique to look more intimidating. Rhodes would have his diet plan and workout routine to thank for this significant gain.
We should also note that it’s not a straightforward task to stick to a fixed plan. Discipline is required in order to sacrifice momentary pleasures for the ultimate goal. However, if you are willing to discover what it takes to look similar to The American Nightmare, then you have come to the right place.

In 2021, Cody Rhodes sat down in an interview with GQ. The interviewer questioned the pro wrestler, particularly regarding his dietary routine. Although the same plan may not work for everyone, Cody Rhodes revealed that he doesn’t skip breakfast. He is not one athlete who would rather eat a protein bar and head to the gym. The former AEW star likes to have breakfast first as part of his routine.
The former AEW EVP revealed in the interview, “I’m an egg whites guy. Basic, dry wheat toast guy. I don’t really have any breakfast meat because of the sodium and added salt.” He claims that he likes to keep his breakfast basic, without including meat in the first meal of the day.
The wrestler revealed that he eats every three hours to maintain his physique and daily calorie intake. He usually likes to stick to a white meal rather than having Korean beef or steak, as it feels heavy for him. Rhodes revealed in the interview that charbroiled chicken is often his go-to thing to have on the side of any type of rice.
If on some days the wrestler can’t include rice or sweet potato some days. He added, “It’s boring, but it’s almost always white rice, grilled chicken, and Thai peanut sauce.”
But it’s not that simple to follow the same routine even for a pro athlete. So, the WWE superstar faces a unique set of challenges when it comes to his diet.
Cody Rhodes has to overcome certain challenges with his diet
Being a pro wrestler requires the athletes to often move from one city to another for their work. Neither can they deny their presence in a show, nor can they overlook their diet. So maintaining the same routine often becomes difficult. However, Rhodes has found a way out of this problem for himself. In the same interview with GQ, the 38-year-old wrestler revealed that he learned he could cut some things off from certain foods to make it healthier for himself if he is dining out. For example, he could order something and ask to not put mayonnaise on top, skip the buns, and sometimes ask for no oil on some foods.
Apart from this, Cody Rhodes also faces problems with eating vegetables. He is not a fan of them. Consequently, his trainer has to include broccoli and other vegetables by simply hiding them in his meals. While talking to the interviewer, Rhodes revealed that he ‘hates vegetables’.
Although he is aware of the benefits that they will bring him, he can’t seem to eat them while he is aware of it. This is why he has found this way to trick himself into eating more greens.
No diet can be completely useful if one doesn’t work out with the same level of intensity and load parallel to their diet. So, to appreciate Rhodes’ discipline as it deserves to be respected, we must get to know his workout routine as well.
