There was a press conference after the hugely successful WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 ended. After the head of creative Triple H answered a few questions, it was Cody Rhodes’ turn. Rhodes and his team of Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, and Randy Orton won the night’s main event. Celebrating the victory, Rhodes also touched up on the massive return of CM Punk.

Punk’s speculated return had been the buzz around town for weeks now. With his return, Rhodes has made it clear who’s to thank for it.

WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 lived up to the hype and much more. While the matches had fans on the edge of their seats, the build-up to the PLE was incredible. With fans hyped to see Randy Orton make his return after 18 months of being out due to an injury, they were also excited for Punk.

During the press conference, Rhodes took a moment to thank Triple H. This was not for the incredible night the fans had at Survivor Series but for getting CM Punk to return to the WWE. Fans had speculated Punk’s return, but Hunter and his creative team were able to keep it under wraps to allow it to be a massive surprise for the star’s hometown fans.

While talking about Punk, Rhodes used the word “hungry” to describe the former WWE star. This is the perfect word that encapsulates what Punk wanted to do during his initial run in the company. “I don’t want to be short with my response, but it truly is this. If he can help with where we’re going and what we’re doing, absolutely,” he said.

Rhodes continued, “Welcome aboard. I have a feeling that the CM Punk that potentially we’re getting is hungry, and that’s the best.” Rhodes seemed excited to have both Orton and Punk back in the WWE and this could be a turning point for the promotion.

What’s next for CM Punk in the WWE?

Punk’s return to the WWE was kept under wraps by Hunter and his team. No one knew it would happen until he walked out at the end of the show. Fans claimed that Rhodes, reveling that Orton was the fifth team member, was part of this plan to ensure fans were hyped for Orton and not Punk.

Now, with Punk officially a part of the promotion, speculations can resume on what and who exactly he’ll be involved with. While nothing has been expressly said, fans believe Punk will win the Royal Rumble 2024 to get a shot at Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight title at WrestleMania 40.
