Cody Rhodes brought the WWE Championship home for the first time when he secured the grand WrestleMania XL victory. He has already proven himself worthy of the WWE Undisputed Championship by retaining it at Backlash in France. However, The American Nightmare’s hunger hasn’t satiated even after finishing his story. He has already moved on to other titles.

Usually, we see champions leaving a title behind if they are to be booked for another one. But Cody Rhodes aims to become the new WWE United States Champion in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, his history as a champion supports his victory.

After he left WWE in 2016, Cody Rhodes secured several interesting achievements while venturing into his independent circuit endeavors. Before he joined AEW and wrestled for championships there, the 38-year-old held two titles at the same time briefly. On 1st September 2018, Rhodes became the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He later lost the title on 21st October of the same year. He also won the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship on the 30th of September in 2018 and reigned until January 4, 2019.

For 22 days, Cody Rhodes held two titles at once. Now that he is set to face Logan Paul at the ‘King and Queen of the Ring’ PLE in Saudi Arabia, the latter should start training harder because Cody Rhodes’ past suggests that he has the experience of carrying two championships at the same time.

So, there is a high possibility that we will witness the former AEW EVP becoming a ‘Grand Slam Champion’ this month. Logan Paul might try his hand at something different in the Stamford-based company. Nevertheless, the result could swing in Paul’s favor due to The American Nightmare not needing a title to elevate himself.

Rhodes doesn’t ‘need’ Logan Paul’s title

Fans already put him over when he came back to the leading wrestling promotion after a long independent run in the industry. The hype touched new skies when Cody Rhodes started a feud against The Tribal Chief to bring home his title. After a year, we saw him standing in the ring with his archenemy again, but this time, bagging the gold for himself.

Now that he has finished his story, Cody Rhodes can continue on his path as a champion and doesn’t need to put down The Maverick in order to get over with fans. Instead, co-hosts of the Busted Open Podcast believe that the WWE United States Championship should have been used to serve a better purpose than making Rhodes the grand slam champion.
