Cody Rhodes made an insane return at WWE WrestleMania 38! While some had predicted it, not everyone was expecting it.
To be honest, WWE had hyped Stone Cold Steve Austin’s return so much that Rhodes’ possible return took a backseat. But, little did anyone know that WWE was cooking something grand.
After his stupendous return against Seth Rollins, he appeared on the following Monday Night Raw to address the fans. He revealed that this time he was back to finish what he started. His goal was to become the champion and honour his father with the belt.

His promo was moving and emotional. It was evident The American Nightmare had become sentimental and it wasn’t a script he was following, but speaking from his heart. Now, on WWE’s The Bump, he spoke about how it felt to finally tell Dusty Rhodes’ story to the world.
“I was just able to go out and speak in an unscripted, raw fashion. And, tell a story about my dad that not everybody knows. Some fans know when I posted about it. I actually have the title I spoke about. Not everyone knows that story. That was my original impetus and whole origin story on wanting to be a wrestler. So, being able to tell the world that was very special. There was a lot of fun.”
Of course, it was fun. The fans witnessed Stardust return as The American Nightmare to fulfill his destiny as The American Dream’s son.

On Monday Night Raw, Rhodes showed a photograph of Dusty Rhodes holding the belt he had won in 1977 at Madison Square Garden.
Dusty Rhodes had gone up against Billy Graham who was the WWWF Champion at that time. The Late Dusty Rhodes won the match via count-out and raised the belt to celebrate. However, he never brought the belt home.
A young Cody Rhodes asked his father why he wasn’t given the belt. To this, his father explained that since he won via count-out, he has the victory to his name but he did not win the belt.
