Is Cody Rhodes vs. The Rock the match we've all been waiting for? Who's your pick?

The Rock might not be making his presence known in the squared circle in the ongoing Bloodline drama, but the entire fanfare has been impatiently counting the days to watch him back in action. Since The Great One has gone on hiatus the following WrestleMania 40, things haven’t been the same in his family tree. Solo Sikoa rose to the helm of the faction, with a brand new squad (Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Jacob Fatu) by his side, toppling the Wise Man brutally.

Now, while the theory of The Rock joining them to knock his cousin out has quite been in the discussion, the promised Cody Rhodes-The Rock feud still casts a shadow over proceedings. To stir the adjourned flame, The American Nightmare also gave us a glimpse of the plot.

The constant skirmishes between Cody Rhodes and The Rock during the build-up of a banger WrestleMania bout used to be the pivotal reason behind the inflated TV ratings. The way Johnson tormented Rhodes both verbally and physically took us back to the non-filtered PG era of WWE. However, the duo seemingly settled their score on the Raw after WrestleMania through some ominous gestures.

But The Rock kept the flame of hostility going by noting their story hasn’t finished yet. Moreover, he issued a warning stating that he would certainly come back to settle the feud once and for all.

Adding to the hype, the Undisputed Universal WWE World’s Champion noted on the Pivot podcast, ”If he comes in any bit like he did for WrestleMania, he’ll be doing the whole, oh, I finally got off, I’ve been so busy. Dude was on, like, a three-month training camp. He was dialed in. So I certainly will be dialed in myself. If I could give you a guess, I feel like I hope it happens in the next year, in the next year.”

Is a heel turn brewing for the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion?

From letting the fans’ emotions out through an insane ‘We Want Cody’ movement to letting the hero reach his heaven on earth through an unmatched title win, WWE has done a great job of portraying Cody Rhodes as the biggest face of the business. But the card can turn anytime here. Fans and veterans like Vince Russo, The Undertaker could see Rhodes garnering even more money and fame as a heel advancing forward. However, the wrestler seems to be half-willing to walk down that path.

Rhodes explained that the fans themselves don’t exactly realize what they are asking for. He said that becoming a heel whose principal job is to go out of his way simply to piss people off would not be a great idea for him with his current momentum. It will be really interesting to see how Cody Rhodes and The Rock collide in another electrifying encounter once the latter gets the ball rolling.
