Cody Rhodes has reached the top of WWE since dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL. Winning the Undisputed Championship after an arduous two-year-long journey. The American Nightmare has proven himself to be a wrestling champion. He recently cemented another successful title defense against AJ Styles in an ‘I Quit’ match at WWE Clash at the Castle.
However, after the end of the match, the seeds were planted for a future rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa. The interim leader of The Bloodline came out alongside Tonga Loa and Tama Tonga to attack the former AEW star. Kevin Owens and Randy Orton came to the aid of the American nightmare.

Since then, according to many fans and pundits alike, the WWE might book a match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the biggest event of the summer, WWE SummerSlam 2024. However, there is still another opponent who could replace Sikoa as a contender. Who could it be? Well, in the latest edition of the Busted Open Podcast, Denise Salcedo and Matt Camp talked about the latest edition of SmackDown and the future booking decisions that the WWE could make. And it was during this discussion that they talked about Rhodes’ next opponent. And while Solo Sikoa emerges as the right fit, the possibility remains that the WWE could bring in Randy Orton instead.

They said, “We’re looking at SummerSlam right now. And WWE is well aware of the impact that they can make at these big shows. I have to say that in the TKO era and the Triple H era, whatever the hell you want to call it, whatever fancy branding they want to give it, they tend to know that at the big shows, they need to deliver big. And they have been doing that. Whether it be bringing Brock back or Cena back or whatever, they hit the big shows in a big way. And with SummerSlam coming up, I think we’ll get into this conversation a little bit as well. Are we going Cody Solo? Or does Cody and company break off from this Bloodline thing and we go Cody-Randy?”
Nevertheless, despite the enticing speculation, it seems that the Stamford-based promotion has fixed its sights on a specific opponent for Cody Rhodes

It is possible that we might have The Viper feud with the American Nightmare! However, according to the Wrestling Observer, Solo Sikoa vs. Rhodes is the match scheduled by the Stamford-based promotion for now. But with WrestleMania XL, we have seen how decisions could change if the WWE Universe is not happy with them.
Solo Sikoa has had a history of meddling in Cody’s affairs since he feuded with Roman Reigns. It was an attack by Sikoa in the match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 that cost Rhodes the opportunity to become the undisputed Universal Champion. With Sikoa at the helm in Reigns’ absence, it will be interesting to watch this matchup at the biggest event of the summer in WWE.
