Following his father’s unfortunate demise, Rhodes was also eventually met with creative problems at WWE leading to his eventual departure. At first, things appeared bleak for Rhodes but he found a way soon enough.
Rhodes confessed an odd difference in his life without his father’s presence. “A lot of decisions I made. I felt more liberated in making those decisions than I perhaps would have had he still been alive,” confessed the American Nightmare.
According to him, his father had a certain hold on his decisions. Due to this, he never fully felt in charge of his own decisions. After Dusty Rhodes passed away, Cody felt like his decisions were actually his.
Despite this confession, we should not forget that no grief can be compared to that of the passing away of a loved one. This huge event in Rhodes’ life changed a lot about his personal as well as professional life.

Dusty’s involvement in Cody Rhodes’ life even after his demise
Even though The American Dream has left the physical world, his blessings run gently with his son. After his WWE return last year, Rhodes brought up how much winning the WWE Championship means to him as his father never held the title.
This emotional aspect has now been woven into the WWE storyline which sees him one step away from realizing his promise to his late father. Standing in his way is Roman Reigns, whose special counsel Paul Heyman has already mentioned the legendary Dusty Rhodes during a RAW promo with Cody Rhodes, further firing up the star to succeed at WrestleMania 39.
