Cody Rhodes Once Shared an Incident of His Father That Will Leave You in Tears

Hardcore wrestling fans would know one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, The American Nightmare. Since his return to WWE, he has been at the top of his game. The wrestling legend, Cody Rhodes, comes from a family of wrestlers.

His dad, Dusty Rhodes, and his brother Golddust both were popular names in the wrestling industry. However, during their growing years, they have seen a lot of financial trouble. 

During a recent interview, the Stardust was seen in tears while sharing about his tough past. Before revealing the story, he even apologized for getting emotional, as it was so personal to him.

While sharing about the days when his family was broke, Rhodes remembered the hardships his family has been through. Further, he mentioned the late WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes,’ who never let their children know about their poor condition.

In an interview, the 37-year-old wrestler shared a close piece of his life with his fans. While sharing, he mentioned that his family was broke when he was 17 or 18. However, his father’s return to WWE and the residual check saved his family. 

Before that, their situation was pretty worse. There have been times when his father couldn’t pay the bills. During those struggle days, many generous people associated with independent wrestling even supported them.

Ever since then, the Rhodes family is thankful to them. That is why, till now, Cody consistently hits up with some promoters, because the family owes them a lot.

As after every dark night comes a bright sunny day, a similar phase for Rhodes came when his father returned to WWE in 2005.

He went on to be the writer for WWE SmackDown. And with time, things were getting better for the family. But the best part arrived when a DVD of Dusty Rhodes was released, which opened a door to good money.

Post that, Cody recalls his mother hitting her knees and thanking god. He also mentioned that this particular check saved their family from getting into a worse situation.

While sharing all these details, he did also mention the beginning of his father’s career. They weren’t financially broken from the start. But it happened when his father started Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling. 

As per Cody Rhodes, the three million dollars invested in it gone in a blink. It was like it’s thrown in a hole and then everyone forgets where the hole was. But whatever the situation ‌was, the family fought the difficult times together and came out strong. 

The story shared by Cody wasn’t just emotional but an inspirational one as well. It reflects a lot on the hardship the family went through together.
