Notably, the conversations he had prior to his WrestleMania 38 return were extremely emotional. During his WrestleMania 38 Media Scrum, he revealed that when he saw Hunter, he became extremely sentimental.
“Hunter is my favorite wrestler. That was a really, jeez, this has been a wild tear-filled weekend, but it was just a good moment. Also, to see him healthy and I know, you know, the retirement came as it did, but to do some justice to not only see my favorite wrestler and somebody that gosh I wanted to model so many things after and such.”
He revealed that he started getting angry, which is why he spoke smack about HHH’s throne. But, over time, he calmed down, created a beautiful chapter in AEW, and now, he’s back at WWE to finish what he started.
Cody Rhodes had a special reason to take on Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38
Vince McMahon revealed that he would hand-pick Seth Rollins’ opponent. When the time came, it was revealed that Rollins would go up against The American Nightmare.
Now, Rhodes revealed that taking on Seth Rollins was important for him because of Triple H.
“Seth being his protégée and to be able to give some of those fan service, perhaps moments, for the fans and also for Triple H.”

Dusty Rhodes treated Seth Rollins like his kid and was a fan of Rollins’ work in NXT. He would teach him and bond with him like his own son, and this made Cody Rhodes jealous.
Cody Rhodes says of facing Seth Rollins: “I hated ‘Dusty’s kids.’ It was pure jealousy, it was unfair, but I did.
“I feel like it couldn’t have been anyone but Seth and I don’t think it’ll be the last one.”
