Cody Rhodes’ Famous Neck Tattoo Became a Distraction for 71-Year-Old WWE Legend During a Production Meeting: ‘I Don’t Know if It Was a Mistake..’

Cody Rhodes has now become the talk of the town in professional wrestling, especially when it comes to WWE. After creating history at Royal Rumble 2023, the champion recalls the strangest reaction he received on his neck tattoo. He remembered how Jim Ross reacted when he first saw the American Nightmare logo tattooed on Cody’s neck. 

When the 37-year-old first appeared with his tattoo in early 2020, the looks of it divided fans. Even Stardust’s wife, Brandi Rhodes, admitted her dislike of the tattoo. 

The American Nightmare recalled a strange reaction from Jim Ross 

The Men’s Royal Rumble winner recently had a conversation with one WWE superstar whom he eliminated during the premium event. During his appearance on the Impaulsive podcast of Logan Paul, Rhodes described how the 71-year-old wrestling commentator once froze looking at him. 

He first said, “I mean, I don’t know if it was a mistake or if I wasn’t paying attention. A lot of people were like, neck? And then, like, my boss at the time, this was when I was at AEW, he just thought like, no way, it’s not gonna be your neck or anything.”

Further, the two-time Intercontinental Champion narrated a story from the past when he entered a production meeting. What happened afterward left both him and Jim Ross in shock. The latter stopped dead while looking at Cody, while his reaction took aback the former.

“I walked into the production meeting the next day just I remember Jim Ross, the legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross literally just the whole meeting was just staring at it, not listening to anything,” Rhodes added.

This also takes us back to when The Prince of Pro Wrestling once explained his decision behind inking a neck tattoo, as he did.

After fans saw Rhodes in the American Nightmare logo tattoo, a lot of varied comments came the superstar’s way. Thus, he made sure to clarify all by explaining his decision and what the tattoo means to him. 

As per what he said, he wanted to make sure that among the other brand that he wears, one should be of his own. And that’s why he never hides it from anyone. 

With more popularity comes more attention to the star. Thus, it will be interesting to see people pay more attention to Rhodes now, as he has earned a guaranteed shot at the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39.
